I work with destinations and visitor-facing businesses to improve accessible tourism, strengthen communication and marketing of accessibility on clients’ websites, and develop better visitor experiences for travellers with disabilities.
My services combine consultancy, content production and talks, all based on on-site testing, lived experience and a clear understanding of commercial and organisational goals.
I work closely with each client to understand their needs, constraints and goals. Projects can be delivered as standalone assignments or as part of a longer collaboration. I am based in Oslo, fluent in Norwegian and English, and travel wherever the work takes me.
What I Offer
Accessible Tourism Consulting:
Do you know what your guests actually encounter? Through on-site visits and testing, I assess accessibility at venues and attractions open to the public, and deliver concrete reports and recommendations that give a real basis for improvement.
I also provide consultancy on how accessibility information should be presented on your website, including concept proposals for a dedicated accessibility page and review of digital content against WCAG standards, the international guidelines that ensure websites can be read and used by everyone, including people who are blind or visually impaired.
Work may include:
- On-site assessments and user testing with a focus on accessibility
- Internal accessibility reports with clear, actionable recommendations
- Advice on inclusive communication and structuring visitor information
- Consultancy on universal design of websites and digital platforms to WCAG standards
- Strategic advice on how accessibility can be improved over time
All recommendations are grounded in real experience, not theoretical checklists.
Destination Content and Communication:
Good accessibility content goes far beyond mentioning lifts and ramps or labels like «wheelchair friendly» and «adapted». Visitors with disabilities need concrete, relevant information to plan their visit and assess whether what you offer suits their needs.
Through on-site visits and testing, I produce texts, guides and travel itineraries for your websites and digital platforms, content that builds trust and makes it easier for more people to choose you.
This may include:
- Website-ready content about destinations and visitor information
- Accessibility content covering surfaces, access routes, entrances, time needed, distances, rest opportunities, stairs, thresholds, gradients, terrain, parking, what is optional versus mandatory, self-service versus table service, rest areas, and more.
- Editorial articles written on assignment for magazines and newspapers
- Destination guides and practical travel itineraries
- Branded content and campaign storytelling
Photography is included as part of this service, documenting both accessibility conditions and the overall character of a place, contributing to better planning and clearer communication.
Speaking & webinars:
Accessibility and accessible tourism are topics many want to address, but few know where to start or what they really involve in practice.
I deliver talks, webinars and presentations for industry events, conferences and internal gatherings. Topics range from inclusive communication and creating great visitor experiences to what accessible tourism actually means, and why it strengthens both commercial results and brand reputation.
Topics may include:
- Understanding accessibility as more than rules and regulations
- Communicating accessibility clearly and credibly
- Reaching a broader audience through inclusive thinking
- Practical improvements that make a real difference for visitors
I also offer keynote talks for businesses and organisations outside the tourism sector. Drawing on my own experience of living an independent and adventurous life on crutches, the talk explores something universal: that we are capable of more than we think, that seeing opportunities rather than barriers is a choice, that courage means making decisions and challenging yourself even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain, and the difference between living your life and watching it from the sidelines.
Bilingual Writing & Translation:
I provide professional writing, translation and proofreading in Norwegian and English, with a focus on natural language, cultural accuracy, and audience clarity.
